Our Future
I spent the last 20 years as a visionary woman owner operator and pioneer in the California wine industry, specifically in the niche of “Natural Wine.” In 2004 we were unique for extending philosophies driving farming practices into the cellar and operations, including bottling, packaging and more. We eschewed roundup (glyphosate), plastic fermentation vats, killing the microbes we farm to support cultured yeast, Styrofoam shippers, heavy glass bottles and more, years before most were considering holistic impact.
The human experience on planet earth is on the precipice of extinction due to unprecedented destruction of the natural world, from the financial and energy systems, the built world rests upon. Headlines and white papers talk about climate action, climate change, poverty, war, social inequity, wealth inequality, religious divides and more. I argue yes, those are all terribly destructive symptoms of the extractive human economy that fails to value natural world capital and ensure equitable distribution of social and natural wealth.
There is no question about possibility. Humanity has the knowledge and capability to both stabilize planetary boundaries and reconstruct the human experience. The question is around spiritual capacity. It is also abundantly clear approaches to date have not proven successful, for stabilizing planetary boundaries and reconstructing the human experience. We have the data, we have the science, we have the creativity, we have the intelligence and genius, we have the community, we have the spiritual capacity, we have the love, we have the vision, we have the imagination, we know there is possibility. So then why does it feel like humans are giving up? I argue the reason so many are giving up is our disconnectedness. Our loneliness. Our loss of community in a post-pandemic world.
We need to dramatically shift the paradigm in which we operate and begin creating conditions rather than siloed solutions to address symptoms. I am eager to lean in and begin creating conditions to enable the Natural World to stabilize while reconstructing a human economy in support of my great great grandchildren and beyond!
This is my website to introduce myself, share my passions and ideas for co-creating conditions of unimaginable possibility. I am available for hire and look forward to hearing from you!
