Neighborsheds as a Pathway to Regenerism
Nodes compete. Flows regenerate. Circular Patterns aims to orchestrate the creation of technological protocols to restore the planet, supported by place based programming to grow coherence, around a singular shared value: All Life Belongs.
Regenerism rests on this one iron clad value, and everything flows from there:
A philosophy and pathway to nonduality living and being. A regenerative principled economic system based on belonging without othering and participation in care and service of people and place.
regenerism.earth ↗A neighborhood scale vehicle that offers community-formation infrastructure. Organized around shared values and protocols that allow any place ready to participate, to become findable, readable and fundable.
Nodes compete. Flows regenerate.
Node based systems specification is the funder’s agenda. Protocol based funnel funding specification rises out of the place and people doing the work.
Today we fund nodes (projects, organizations) that match funders (VC, Impact, Philanthropy) agenda driven specification, until allotted funds are depleted.
A mirror of the node based competition underpinning capitalism. Nodes compete to meet spec instead of focusing on their mission. The system is broken beyond repair.
Funders specify places and/or regeneration recipes for participating places
Recipes based on the design constraint of living within ecological limits where all life belongs
The protocol funding funnel matches resources to participating places
Funnel funding requires a protocol based substrate.
A place — Neighborshed, watershed, county, bioregion — needs to be findable and readable, and to hold trust, identity and choice, so funding can be matched and flowed by need and readiness, not credit rating.
Funding based on Readiness For Regeneration (RFR) rather than ROI.
Funding is matched to places ready to do the work.
The smallest place is a Neighborshed.
Participating places (Neighborshed, county, bioregion, etc) are resourced to establish their:
- Regenerative baseline
- Regenerative capacity
- Regeneration recipes
- Regeneration monitoring
Places orient around their recipes that match assets and liabilities of a place to the people’s — Neighborshed members’ — offers and needs.
Matchmaking is based on a novel Doughnut Economic Regenerative Rubric (DERR) protocol that:
- Establishes baseline and capacity
- Provides ongoing recipe impact monitoring
DERR recipes drive circular means of production with focus around regional supply chains for water, food, energy and sanitation.
DERR protocol interoperates with foundational protocols like “choice making units” (CMU) which are closer to a vote than to a dollar.
CMUs live above basic needs in Regenerism, which holds sacred that all humans have a birthright to thrive and flourish.
CMUs are for needs beyond food, water, shelter, wellness, education.
CMUs are earned from participation and once used are booked on the ledger as expended. By definition they cannot accumulate.

How the rubric works
The Doughnut Economic Regenerative Rubric — how a place is read, scored, and matched to what it needs.
